Dear readers,
FFK is transitioning to a book and Instagram format, where I will be transferring content from the blog into new digital and print books (a ‘greatest hits,’ dessert collection, and Korean saga book), and shifting both new and old recipes to my Instagram account (@flashfictionkitchen). This will entail a gradual transition away from the website, which I’ll likely wind down within a year. So if you’re not already, please follow me on Insta and keep in touch there! I love to hear from readers and cooks and want this community to continue to thrive.
In the meantime, I’m happy to announce that my ‘greatest hits’ cookbook is now available for purchase on Amazon (design by the incomparable Isa Crosta, isacrosta.com):
–Here, as a paperback for $17.99
–Here, as a reflowable Kindle e-book for $9.99 (easy to read, but less photo/design-heavy)
–Here, as a print replica Kindle e-book for $9.99 (nearly identical to the paperback with full photos & design, but may be harder to read/require zooming in on smaller devices)
Recipes include: bagels, blueberry pancakes, cassava cake, cassava bread, sweet potato & cassava gnocchi, cheesy noodles, carnitas, and more! All AIP and Paleo, and many vegan recipes as well (Full list available in the Amazon preview.)
I’m also making the book available as a PDF, which you can purchase directly here for $8.99:
Best of Flash Fiction Kitchen’s Pithy Tales & Paleo Treats [PDF Edition]
Please note: upon purchase you should receive an automatic email with a download link to the PDF. If you don’t see it, please check your spam folder and/or shoot me a message here. (You can also click “Return to Merchant” on the Paypal checkout site, which should take you to a page with a download link.)
Yes this is a lot of formats, but I wanted to give you options! I’ve had to take down some of the blog recipes to meet Amazon’s content guidelines, so if you’re in need of a particular recipe and don’t want to get the whole book or are waiting for it to arrive, just DM me and I’ll see what I can do. If you do happen to buy one of the books and enjoy it though, I would really appreciate a kind review. (Who knew how much work cookbooks are…novel-ing is going to seem a breeze after this. ๐ )
In the meantime, I’m hoping to dive into some (three…four??) novel projects with renewed vigor. Amidst these changing, turbulent times I think our world sorely needs a return to good story, and I’d like to spend some time getting down to the very essence of it. I’ve really enjoyed these past five (!) years of food bloggery and flash fiction-ing, and I hope to stay connected to this community of lovely, positive people. I have a lot of faith in the energy I perceive from you all and a strong sense of creative, well-lived lives. So give me a shout anytime – and here’s to new experiments and adventures!
Much โค๏ธ always,
Julie

Hi Julie
I sent you a note long ago but have just coasted along not imagining that things like your website might change. Your recipes were such an important spark for a change of thinking in how to use cassava. You literally changed my sons life in terms of having interesting food while he was on the journey to heal his gut. Keeping his spirits up was really important if he was going to get better and your recipes gave us hope for a recovery and tasty future.
Thank you so much for all your effort over the years. I will definitely buy your book and check out if my favourite recipes are there.
I’m assuming that the ones I’ve saved to Pinterest will expire when your website closes. Anyway, they are precious inspirations to me and I just wanted you to know that you have been a great teacher and helper in our families’ life. Good luck on your writing.

Hi Janice – thank you so much for your kind note, it’s great to hear from you. I remember your previous comment and it means so much to me that my recipes have been helpful for your family, especially your son in his health journey…I hope he continues to thrive and find tasty food along the way! (I tell people I eat better and tastier now than I did 10 years ago on the SAD and they don’t believe me…but t’is true ๐ I’ll move most of the blog content that’s not in the books to Instagram and continue to post new recipes there, and if there’s any recipe you’re missing just let me know ๐ Thank you again for your support, and warm wishes to you and your family!

Hello. How many recipes are AIP? I had a craving for your sweet potato gnocchi (I made it last summer – it was delicious!), and I was so disappointed to not have a recipe to follow. Iโd love to support your cookbook, but not if I canโt eat much of whatโs in it. The gnocchi and pancakes are favorites of mine. Best wishes in your new venture.

Hi Beth, good question! All of the recipes in the cookbook are AIP, including the sweet potato gnocchi – totally understand about wanting to be able to use all the recipes in a cookbook! (Part of why I only cook what I can eat most of the time too – which is pretty much all AIP ๐ I’ll make it clearer in the description, and please feel free to PM me for any other info.
